Americana Music Concert

Americana Concert to Blend Folk, Blues, Alt-Country

Musician Merlin Snider & Pretty Good Acquaintances will present a concert of Americana music -- an eclectic blend of folk, blues, alternative country, swing and soul -- on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Newbury Park.

The Between Two Saints (Valentine and Patrick) concert will be held at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 3327 Old  Conejo Road.

Snider is an accomplished singer, songwriter and acoustic guitar player who has released two CDs and has another one on the way. The program will include highlights from all three albums as well as at least two Beatles songs and some Irish tunes.

Snider's music is a mixture of folk-blues, western swing, alternative country and folk rock. The Newbury Park musician's songs have been praised by critics for their evocative storytelling and a good amount of wicked humor. The Pretty Good Acquaintances band includes guitars, bass, fiddle, mandolin and banjo.

Also appearing on the program will be the Honeysuckle Possums, an all-woman old-time fiddling, mountain music, Celtic and bluegrass band.

The event is a fundraiser for the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with a suggested donation of $18. For tickets and information, visit www.merlinsnider.com.
