Artificial Grass Now Eligible for Reimbursement When You Replace Water-Thirsty Lawn
The Las Virgenes Municipal Water District will give you $2/square foot. The fake turf was just added to the list of acceptable replacements.

From the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District:
The Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Board of Directors has amended the eligibility requirements of the District’s “Mow No Mow” lawn replacement program to match those of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, effectively adding artificial turf to the list of materials that qualify for a cash rebate.
The lawn replacement program currently offers property owners an incentive of $2 per square foot to permanently remove water-thirsty turf areas. Participants may use the rebate to install new landscaping of their choosing, provided the new configuration complies with the terms of the incentive program.

Prior to the Board’s action, a number of customers had requested the addition of artificial turf as an allowable substitute for a natural lawn area. The Board took notice of the customer requests and responded accordingly.
LVMWD General Manager David W. Pedersen said, “We realize $2 per square foot may not cover all the costs of installing new landscaping. However, it provides a strong incentive for customers to make permanent changes in their landscaping that will provide benefits in the form of cash and water savings for years to come.”
