Craving a Burger, Fries and Shake?
Johnny Rockets promises patrons an old-fashioned dining experience with all the fixin's.
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Agoura Hills Patchpicks a great restaurant either in a town or nearby that is worth checking out.
Here's this week's choice:
Overview: When was the last time you splurged a little bit and enjoyed a burger, fries and a fresh milkshake? In honor of this local hot spot's 25th anniversary, I decided to remind you why this is such a fun, family-friendly restaurant. Seat the kids in one of the big red booths or at the counter to watch the chefs cook. This is where I used to always order a milkshake. Of course, they have a fabulous kids menu at great prices. Make sure to carry a nickel with you so you can play your favorite sock hop tunes.

Drinks: There are no alcoholic beverages at this diner, but they have all your fountain favorites. Sip on Fanta, Mr. Pibb, Barqs Rootbeer and more. Spice up your Coke or soda with a flavor shot of cherry, vanilla, chocolate or lemon. Now to the good stuff. Enjoy an Original Shake or Malt ($4.29) in strawberry, chocolate or vanilla. Try a Deluxe Shake or Malt ($4.79) with delicious flavors like Butterfinger, Mocha Fudge, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Oreo Cookies & Cream and more. Of course a Root Bear Float ($2.99) is always a crowd pleaser.
Starters: You can't go to Johnny Rockets without ordering their American Fries ($1.99) with the ketchup served in a happy face. Of course, you can get a little crazy and add some cheese, onions or chili on top. I also love their Onion Rings ($2.99) with thick batter coated on them. Start with some Sliders ($3.99) for the table or Mini Hot Dogs ($3.99) to share. I love their Rocket Wings ($6.99) presented with a special sauce.

Salads/Sandwiches: If you are watching your calories but want to enjoy the fun dining experience, they have some big, fresh salads. The Chicken Club ($6.39) is my favorite with bacon and chicken tenders. Keep it simple with a Chicken Caesar ($6.39), Garden ($1.69) or Caesar salad ($4.99). Have you ever tried the Philly Cheese Steak ($7.99)? It's delicious with bell peppers and onions. I also love the Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich ($6.99) and Chicken Club Sandwich ($7.49) stacked on sourdough. Other favorites that keep customers coming back include the Tuna Melt ($6.49) with cheese, Chili Dog ($5.49) with chopped onions and grated cheese and their famous Egg Salad Sandwich ($4.99) which is made fresh daily.
Hamburgers: You can never go wrong with The Original ($5.99) with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, relish, mustard and mayonnaise. Enjoy the Rocket Single ($6.49) with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions.Really hungry? Get the Rocket Double ($7.99). Another favorite is the Bacon Cheddar Double ($8.49) or Single ($6.99). My personal favorite when I feel like splurging is the St. Louis ($6.99) with bacon, Swiss cheese, grilled onions and their special sauce. All burgers are served with fries or a side salad. You can substitute any sandwich with a turkey burger, soy burger or wheat bun. You can also add grilled onions, chili, egg, grilled mushrooms or bacon. Get a little messy with the Chili Cheese Hamburger ($6.99).
Desserts: In case one of their delicious milkshakes or malts wasn't enough for your sweet tooth, they have some great options. The Perfect Brownie Sundae ($4.99) is my favorite with whipped cream, nuts and vanilla ice cream on top. You can order just the Perfect Brownie ($2.99) or a Single Scoop ($1.99) of ice cream. The Super Sundae ($3.99) is two scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate or strawberry sauce, whipped cream and almonds.
