Doctor Follows in Dad's Footsteps

About 30 years ago, Dr. Andy Matthew opened his pediatric medical practice in Agoura Hills. His daughter, Jessica, just 7 months old at the time, completed her first week at the office as the new doctor in town. 

“The first day was great,” said Jessica Hochman. “I grew up in Agoura and it is fun to be back and working for my dad.”

Hochman graduated from Agoura High School in ’98. From there, she attended UCLA as an undergraduate and Boston University for medical school. Hochman then returned to UCLA for her residency, which she finished two weeks ago. It was there that she discovered an interest in pediatric medicine, just like her father.

“I love the idea of seeing children born and watching them grow up,” said Hochman. “I grew up with such a good father, a doctor who genuinely cared about his patients, and he always came home happy.”

From an early age, Hochman would follow her Dad throughout his rounds and also paid keen attention whenever he discussed medicine at home. According to Matthew, his daughter’s enthusiasm resounds to this day.

“She’s young and energetic, and she loves working with kids,” he said. “She is also well-trained, and I know that she will do a great job, especially in connecting with young mothers”

As a new mom herself, Hochman can relate to many of her patients concerns and maintains a strong desire to help kids live long and healthy lives.
