BASTILLE DAY & PARISIAN WAITERS' RACE AT LADYFACE ALEHOUSE & BRASSERIE

Come celebrate Bastille Day Saturday, July 14th!

With food and drink specials, including the release of Ladyface's newest Merlot barrel-aged beer, Beffroi, it will be a grande fete!

As in previous years, the microbrewery and restaurant is also inviting local food and beverage service workers from around the Conejo Valley to compete in a traditional Parisian Waiters' foot race which involves balancing serving trays of bottles and glasses full of water as they race around a 300 yard course in the Ladyface parking lot.

Ladyface Alehouse and Brasserie, which specializes in Belgian and French styles ales, holds the race each year on Bastille Day (La Fête de la Bastille or La Fête Nationale in French) which marks the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 and the first major event of the French Revolution of 1789.

It’s believed the first waiter’s race originated in France as the "course de garcons de cafe" and it’s possible to find archival footage of waiter’s races in Paris, London and Berlin from the turn of the 20th century.
