Fire Hits Home Near Reyes Adobe
Smoke from the blaze, which causes significant structural damage to a garage and destroyed two cars and a motorcycle, was seen from Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Firefighters battled a blaze at a single family home in the 30000 block of Walford Ct., off of Reyes Adobe Rd., in Agoura Hills around 9:06 a.m. on Saturday. There were no reports of deaths or serious injuries.
Homeowner Alan Simon told Patch, "We were asleep and my son was awakened when he heard crashing sounds in the garage. When he looked out the window, he saw smoke and ran to get me."
Simon said he opened the window, saw smoke and flames pouring out of the garage, evacuated the family and called 911.

Simon said just a few minutes later, deputies and firefighters from appeared. The fire was extinguished and smoke cleared with help from nearby Ventura County Engine 36 at around 9:45 a.m.
"Upon arrival, our units found smoke and fire coming through the garage door and through the attic space. It was a pretty good blaze, and I was initially concerned about the house next door catching fire," said Capt. Jerry Reese.

Once the firefighters began to battle the flames, the danger of the fire spreading was quickly extinguished, said Reese.
One firefighter received minor injuries during the blaze and was transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment, according to Reese.
The preliminary cause, determined accidental, was an electrical short in the garage, which ignited paper goods, said Reese.
The fire led to a total loss of the garage, damage to the attic, and smoke damage throughout the structure, according to Reese. A motorcycle inside and two cars parked outside the garage were destroyed.
"We lost all of our memorabilia, like my kids' grade school artwork, photographs, my old college stuff, everything that mattered," said Simon.
