"She made a little mistake and it cost her a little bit," Agoura senior Colette Compton said. "I thought it was a good day. I feel like we could beat them in another try."

Compton made par on three of her first four holes. She said she was just trying to have fun with her round and got off to a good start. "I was really excited. I was in my pumped-up mode," Compton said. "The first shot was good. I had a positive attitude."

Agoura's Amanda Merfeld was 14-over par at 48, the third lowest round for her team.

"Our depth varies," Quick said. "I have to rotate girls in to give everyone a chance to play. We want to improve. We're going to see how we can do that."

Clarissa Buch paced Moorpark with a 9-over par 43. She was followed by Alexa Liacko at 10-over 44 and Madison McBride at 13-over 47.

The next match for Agoura (0-1) is Tuesday against Simi Valley at the Simi Hills Golf Course.
