Gas Prices Continue Steady Climb
Southland gas prices have been creeping up for about three weeks.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 21st time in 22 days, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $3.859.
The average price has increased 16.7 cents over the past 22 days, including seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is now 3 cents more than one week ago, 12 cents higher than one month ago and 4.3 cents greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price rose today for the 20th time in 22 days, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.845, 3.8 cents more than one week ago,
15.3 cents higher than one month ago and 4.5 cents greater than one year ago.

It has increased 18.7 cents over the past 22 days, including eight-tenths of a
cent on Thursday.
"Oil prices are still in the $85-$90 a barrel range and providing some upward pressure to gas prices,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. "However, other states have seen much larger price increases over the past month. Drivers in Chicago are now paying $3.98 on average, higher than any Southland area, while New York City drivers are paying $3.91 on average and Detroit gas is averaging $3.87.''
