Get Ready For Summer: YMCA Summer Camp Signups Underway

For generations, YMCA summer camps have given kids the opportunity to explore the outdoors, challenge themselves, learn new things and make lifelong friends. YMCA summer camp signups are currently underway at Southeast Ventura County YMCA branches serving the Conejo Valley, Moorpark and Simi Valley.

Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade can attend day camps part time (one to three days a week) or full time (four to five days a week). Counselor-in-Training programs are available for teens in 9th and 10th grade. Camp activities are based on age group.

Day camps feature swimming, games, age-appropriate field trips and activities where campers explore and appreciate the outdoors. Scheduled field trips include bowling, museums, miniature golf, Underwood Farms, Santa Barbara Zoo, the beach and water parks. Horseback riding is available at the Conejo YMCA.

“The YMCA has been a part of summer since the early 1900s,” says Chrissy Withers, Triunfo YMCA associate executive director. “It’s been the Y’s mission to offer campers the opportunity to build their self-esteem, character and confidence through a positive, fun and rewarding YMCA experience.”

To ensure that every child has the chance to go to camp, the Y offers financial assistance to those in need.

Summer camps are offered through the Conejo Valley YMCA (serving Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley), Triunfo YMCA (serving Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park at Agoura High School) and Simi Valley Family YMCA.
