Neil Popowitz, Attorney/MBA, Freilich & Popowitz LLP Keyjote Speaker: Increasing oil and gas drilling activity, resulting from
the new technology of hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as “fracking,”
ranging from the Monterey Shale Field in California, Wattenberg Field in
Colorado, Bakken Field in North Dakota and Montana, Marcellus Field underlying
portions of Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, to the
Barnett and Eagle Ford Fields of Texas, has stirred the imagination of the
American people, allowing them to believe in the possibility of achieving energy
self-sufficiency.
Unfortunately, the recent boom in oil and gas drilling
has overwhelmed many communities. This program will focus on the need for local
government regulation of oil and gas fracking, drilling, and production to fill
the vacuum left by less than comprehensive federal and state regulation.
