'Jurassic Park' Actor, Agoura Hills Acting Coach Sentenced to Prison for Lewd Act with Teen Girl

Cameron Thor, whose onetime acting students included Helen Hunt and Madonna, was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

AGOURA HILLS, CA - A former acting coach who has mentored A-list actresses was sentenced Wednesday to six years in state prison for a lewd act with a teenage girl who had taken classes from him.

Superior Court Judge Martin Herscovitz also ordered 56-year-old Cameron Thor, whose onetime acting students included Helen Hunt and Madonna, to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The girl, then 13, took private classes from Thor at his Agoura Hills home and was driven by Thor to the Santa Monica Mountains, where the crime occurred in March 2009, according to Deputy District Attorney Simone Shay.

Thor was convicted last Aug. 26, with jurors finding true an allegation that there was substantial sexual conduct.

Thirteen other charges that had been filed against Thor involving the teen were dismissed before the case went to trial.

Defense attorney Mark Geragos -- who took over the case after Thor's conviction -- maintained after the hearing that his client had been wrongly convicted.

"I'm cautiously optimistic the case will get reversed," he said, calling what had happened "a travesty."

Thor appeared in the original 'Jurassic Park' movie, playing the rival who bribed a security expert to steal dinosaur genomes.
