Ladies Lunch at Ladyface

Agoura moms who love beer (and even those that don't) love this microbrewery.

On the surface, a brew pub might not sound like the ideal place to lunch with your mommy friends, but as most Agourans already know, is not your typical brew pub.

Longtime Old Agoura resident and her partners, brewmaster and chef , spare no detail—whether it be the décor reminiscent of the Belgian countryside, the artisan beer, or the decadently delicious food.

Once a month, I have lunch at Ladyface with a great group of Agoura mom friends. We meet at 11:30 a.m. and linger for a few hours until school pick-up. We laugh over the antics of our kids, worry about which middle school is a better fit, and cry over the struggles that midlife can bring to us and those closest to us – divorce, cancer, a sudden heart attack, not to mention the loss of skin elasticity and gray hair.

The service is excellent and the servers never mind that our monthly visit can last up to three hours.

Admittedly, some of us do indulge and have a pint (or two) during our brief monthly escape from mommyhood. I am a huge fan of the Ladyface IPA and the Blonde in particular, but there are beers for every palate, a full bar for non-beer drinkers, and of course an array of non-alcoholic drinks, including a wonderful organic tropical green iced tea.

Their small plates menu is just a big of a draw as the ambiance and the beverages. Ladyface's menu changes seasonally and they pride themselves on using local produce and grass fed beef.

My current menu favorites are the sweet potato fries (quite literally the best fries I’ve ever had), the ratatouille with burrata cheese, and the hamburger topped with blue cheese and served on a pretzel bun.

Like most "great escapes" in this town, I really like coming here with my husband too. But whether you are gabbing with your girlfriends over some fries and a beer or sharing their heavenly rice pudding with the one you love best, Ladyface Alehouse and Brasserie is one of Agoura’s best getaways.
