Letter To The Editor: Agoura Resident Asks City To Address Crime
"In the absence of additional funding, what other strategies are being considered to combat and prevent crime in Agoura Hills?"

Dear Agoura Hills City Council members:
I hope this message finds you well. As a concerned resident of Agoura Hills, I feel compelled to bring your attention to the recent increase in criminal activity, particularly in the area along Kanan, just north of Thousand Oaks.
As a parent of four young children, my family's safety was the primary reason for our move from Los Angeles, through Calabasas, and ultimately to Agoura Hills. Our community has always been a safe haven, which is why the recent incidents have been both alarming and disconcerting.

One such incident was the recent AT&T smash and grab, which I personally witnessed and attempted to assist the Sheriff's Department in pursuing the suspects. Unfortunately, they managed to evade capture. With this in mind, I have taken the liberty of mapping the three most recent crimes along the Kanan retail strip, in the hope that it may prove helpful in identifying potential patterns and hotspots.
I understand that resources may be limited, and I am aware that there are currently no additional deputies available. However, I would like to inquire if there are any plans to increase the sheriff's budget to address the uptick in crime in our beloved community. In the absence of additional funding, what other strategies are being considered to combat and prevent crime in Agoura Hills?

As a concerned resident, I am eager to collaborate with the City Council and other community members to ensure the safety and security of our neighborhood. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter, as well as any plans you may have to address these pressing issues.
