Meet an “Amazing” Whose Love of Painting Transcends Generations

Chinyee, 90, was honored with an exhibition of her most recent paintings, "Dance of the Inner Being," at Gallery 456 in New York.

Chinyee at 90, was honored with an exhibition of her most recent paintings, “Dance of the Inner Being,” in 2018 at Gallery 456 in New York. Born in China, Chinyee and her family were forced to flee the country during the Sino-Japanese war. Chinyee eventually made her way to the USA on a fine art scholarship to the College of Mount Saint Vincent. She fulfilled that early artistic promise many times over, being honored by UNICEF and by the US Art in Embassies program for exhibitions in US embassies, along with many other exhibits both nationally and abroad. In addition, Chinyee was named “Artist of the Nineties” by the prestigious Manhattan Arts magazine, and she hasn’t stopped painting since!
