"Muses II" to Showcase Local Talent
"Muses II," a program showcasing poets, storytellers and other creative talent from the community, will be presented Oct. 11 in Newbury Park

“Muses II,” the second in a series of programs showcasing creative talent from the community, will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. by the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Community Forum.
Poets and storytellers are invited to sign up for eight-minute time slots at the open-microphone event at 3327 Old Conejo Road in Newbury Park. Musicians, artists, dancers, magicians and other talents are also welcome.
Matthew Weisman, one of the organizers of the event, said the turnout of performers at “Muses I” last June was greater than expected and the program was extended for an extra half hour. He said the diversity of talent was inspiring and that performers ranged in age from 17 to over 80.

“I think there are a lot of poet-writer-musicians out there who are looking for an audience and we are thrilled to be able to provide one,” he said. “As long as these amazing people keep showing up we will continue to have Muses programs.”
Signups for each eight-minute slot will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 11. The program is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted. For information, visit forum.cvuuf.org or phone (805) 374-9818.
