Online registration is now open for the Conejo Valley YMCA's 10th Annual Turkey Day Dash, held Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27.

Online registration is now open for the Conejo Valley YMCA’s 10th Annual Turkey Day Dash, held Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27. The annual Thanksgiving Day 5K run/walk and 1K family fun run/walk starts at California Lutheran University (60 West Olsen Rd., Thousand Oaks). The 1K fun run/walk begins at 8:00 a.m. The 5K run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

More than 3,000 runners and walkers take part in the event each year, making it one of the largest run/walk events in the Conejo Valley. “The Turkey Day Dash has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition for many families in the Conejo Valley,” says Zak Howell, Conejo Y program director. “Proceeds go towards providing financial assistance for youth, families and seniors so they can take part in YMCA programs so the event encompasses the Thanksgiving spirit of giving. It’s a great way to start the holiday.”

All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Professional timing is available for 5K runners. Jogging strollers are welcome but must begin the run at the end of the starting line. No pets are allowed. Free t-shirts will be provided to participants while supplies last.
