Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park to Host 47th Annual Easter Sunrise Service — April 20, 2014
Luminaries
in the form of a cross will light up a small hill as more than 1,000 community
members gather at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park for the 47th
annual Easter Sunrise Service. Nearby, in
the garden of Gethsemane shepherds and their dogs tend a small flock of sheep. The service will be held April 20 beginning
at 6:00 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon
Road in Westlake Village, just north of the 101 Freeway. The service, open to all in the community, is
sponsored by the Conejo Valley Interfaith Association.
“Pierce
Brothers Valley Oaks’ Easter Sunrise Service is one of the most anticipated
events in our community, and one that many have attended for decades,” said Tammy
Eacker, general manger at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, a proud
Dignity Memorial® provider. “We are delighted
to once again work with the Conejo Valley Interfaith Association to provide an
inspirational start to a glorious day, and a gathering place where
multi-generational families come to celebrate.”
Dr.
Gary Alan Dickey will lead the procession and lighting of Easter candles playing
“Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes. During
the service, the Rev. Craig Beeker will present the Easter message, “Is There
Any Hope?” Scripture readings, music and
song, prayers, proclamations, and a beautiful setting along with live sheep will
inspire all who attend this moving non-denominational service. An offering will be collected and used to
assist the Lutheran Social Services Agency of Thousand Oaks for outreach to the
needy in the area.
