Local soccer club Real So Cal took two prestigious championships at the annual soccerloco Surf Cup in Del Mar, Calif. the weekend of July 27-29.
The club's girls under-18 ECNL and girls under-16 ECNL teams won first place trophies in the tournament's "super" division, besting clubs from across California and the United States.
Participating in the tournament — let alone winning — is a major accomplishment for the girls, as over 670 teams applied for the 378 positions in the Cup. As a result, the Tournament Committee had to turn away hundreds of top-tier teams, therefore pitting the Agoura girls against the best of the best in youth soccer.
Both teams are part of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) — a national youth soccer league aimed at providing the highest level of competition for female players while also helping to identify potential players for U.S. Soccer Youth National Teams.
