Report: Agoura Hills Crime Drops 3% in a Year

A recent report indicates an overall drop in criminal activity over the past 12 months.

Criminal activity has dropped overall by 3.01 percent during the past year in Agoura Hills, according to a new report published by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Between Sept. 30, 2010, and Sept. 30, 2011, 193 incidents ranging from burglary to larceny and other "part one" crimes, which encompass thefts and violent crimes, were reported to the .

There were 199 reported incidents the year before, according to the report.

In the last 12 months, larceny and burglary were the most frequently reported crimes, the findings read.

In Agoura, grand theft auto and burglary rose a whopping 28.78 and 17.8 percent, respectively.

In other part one crimes, one case of forcible rape, two robberies and eight cases of aggravated assault were also reported during the past year in Agoura Hills, according to the report.

No murders or acts of arson took place in the community, the report said.

Neighboring Calabasas' burglary rate rose 3.46 percent, while Westlake Village's saw a 7.7 percent increase

Agoura Hills is patrolled by Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's deputies. Other cities include Malibu, Hidden Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village and parts of unincorporated Los Angeles County.

Crime rates dropped in all patrolled communities except for Westlake Village, which had a 9.92 percent increase, the Sheriff's Department reported.

Overall, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station saw an 8.5 percent decrease in crime, according to the report.
