Rustic Canyon General Store & Grill
Before you hit the beach, check out the delicious barbecue grub at this rustic stop along the way.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Agoura Hills Patch picks a great restaurant either in a town or nearby that is worth checking out.
Here's this week's choice:

Overview: Chances are when you've driven to Zuma beach, you've seen this biker hot spot on the left side of the road. Since the opening of next door's I have gotten to know this shop well, as well as their food. They are known for their great burgers, sandwiches, and hearty salads. Plus if you need to grab some extra goodies for the road, they have a full store. Enjoy sitting outside with a glass of wine. True confession–I feel pretty "cool" hanging out with the biker crowd. If you're on the run to get the best spot at Zuma, phone in your order and grab it to-go. The prices are extremely reasonable.
Drinks: Besides a full selection of fountain beverages like Orange Crush and Tropicana Lemonade, the Grill features a variety of specialty coffees ($2). Try French Vanilla, Chai Tea, Cafe Mocha, or Hot Chocolate to name a few. And of course they have beer. Choose from a selection of draft beers in a frosty mug or in a pitcher to share.

Appetizers: If you're looking for a healthy starter, don't come here. This is a place for enjoying the grease. Honestly, I go here for their Fried Zucchini Sticks ($3.95/large) served with creamy ranch. They are crunchy and delicious. Keep the fried fest love going with their Beer Battered Onion Rings ($3.95/large) or Steak Fries ($3.95/large). Their famous Tri-Tip Chili ($4.95/large) is a must try for newcomers, or take it a step up with Chili Cheese Steak Fries($6.95/large). Are you drooling yet?
Salads: You can compromise and be sinful with an appetizer but be swimsuit-season conscious with a salad. The Tri Tip ($7.95) salad is my favorite with lean meat, veggies and pepperocinis. Keep with the barbecue theme by trying their tender Pulled Pork ($7.95) Salad. If you like tuna then you must try their Tuna Salad ($7.95) made fresh daily. Choose from Sweet and Tangy BBQ, Horsey Sauce, Buttermilk Ranch, Santa Fe Ranch, 1,000 Island, or Italian dressings.
Paninis & All American Favorites: Besides the zucchini sticks, I love coming here for their Garlic Tri Tip Panini ($6.95). Try it and you will thank me. The Grilled Cheese ($4.95) is simple yet tastes so good. You can make a Melt Panini ($5.95) of your choice with turkey, tuna, ham, or bacon. Add some melted cheese, grilled onions and bacon for an additional charge. If it's a warm afternoon and you are craving a hot dog, this is the spot. Start with the All-Beef Hot Dog ($1.95) and add kraut or chili for an additional charge. Go crazy with the Corn Dog Plate ($5) with two deep fried corn dogs and a basket of fries. But don't forget to try their Hamburger ($5.25), all half a pound of it! Splurge and try the Grillbilly Chili Burger ($7.95) or the Pastrami Burger ($7.95) with homemade coleslaw and a quarter pound of pastrami. The Fish & Chips ($5.95) are served with tartar sauce and lemon. Try the Shrimp & Chips ($5.95) or the Chicken Strips ($5.49), both served with a basket of fries.
Sandwiches: Hello Tri Tip Sandwich ($7.95) again. Enjoy this delicious Tennessee-style with sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, or Simi-style with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I love The Philly ($7.95) with melted Provolone cheese, grilled onions, roasted bell peppers and marinara sauce. Some other great hot sandwiches to try are the Pulled Pork ($7.95) or the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($7.95) with fried chicken strip, bacon, and melted cheese. All their cold sandwiches are served on a fresh toasted roll. Enjoy favorite like the BLT ($5.50) with crispy bacon or the Turkey Club ($6.95) with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Choose from tuna, turkey, or ham and add a pickle and coleslaw on the side.
South Of The Border: Not in the mood for barbecue or a sandwich? No worries, they have some Mexican cuisine favorites like a hearty and fully stuffed Burrito ($5.95) with either chicken or steak. Their Taco Platter ($6.95) is filling and delicious with three corn tortillas filled with chicken or steak, cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and taco sauce. There's also black beans and rice on the side. Enjoy a Rice Bowl ($6.95) with tri tip chili, chicken or steak on top of their famous spicy rice.
Desserts: They have a variety of cookies, ice cream, brownies, candies, and decadent dessert bars to choose from.
