The Power of Supergreens

By adding this to your daily regime you will increase your overall health, helping you reach your fitness goals.

People always want to know what type of protein they should put into their smoothies. I always recommend a supergreens over a protein supplement any day! Not that getting plenty of quality protein isn't important, but it is more important to make sure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs to function properly and rebuild itself.

If your body isn't getting enough quality nutrients (vitamins, minerals and phyto-nutrients), it really doesn't matter that you are getting enough protein. Your body will think it is starving and your metabolism will slow down and you hold onto anything you put into it, hence weight gain or possibly more severe health issues if you are really depleted of nutrients. By increasing your nutrient in take your body will not be starving and your metabolism will stay high and burn those calories.

In today's world our soil has been depleted of many nutrients it once had. So when you eat an apple today it isn't as nutritious as an apple our grandparents ate. Because of our farming practices our soils have slowly but surely lost many vital nutrients our bodies need to maintain a healthy balance.

This is why I always recommend a supergreens supplement to my clients. I commonly get asked, "what are supergreens"? A supergreens is a green powder that has potent ingredients in it such as spirulina, sea kelp, barely grass and wheat grass just to name a few. There are many brands on the market that are decent but always be aware of what you are buying. Make sure you read the label and the ingredients. It is a good idea to research the manufacture and what their manufacturing practices are.

I have found a great supergreens called Vitamineral Greens by a company called HealthForce Superfoods. Many of their supplements are high quality and worth the money! You can always add in a protein powder on top of your supergreens if you are wanting to increase your protein in take, but again look at what you are using very carefully. Many supplement companies are cheap and don't sell quality product. They are only in the business to make a buck and are not looking out for your health. I would suggest a plant based protein such as hemp, pea, rice or potato proteins.

If your goals are to lose weight, build muscle, increase energy, tone and tighten, a supergreens will help you get there. Focus on increasing your overall health first and everything else will fall into place. The best way to in take a supergreens is in a smoothie. Use your smoothie as a way to get a good amount of raw foods into your daily regime. Here are some good smoothie recipes for you to try.

I always like to add in spinach and or kale to increase my raw food in take without increase my calorie in take to much. Plus you will get all of those nutrients! Find a recipe you like so you will stick to it. This should be your mutli-vitamin everyday, NOT a compressed pill! I will save that discussion for another blog topic.
