Bicycle John's celebrated its third annual customer appreciation event on Saturday, complete with en mass bike tours and a family-style barbecue.
Cycling enthusiasts gathered at on Saturday for the shop's annual customer appreciation ride and barbecue. The day-long event included two short cycling tours, vendor talks, classes and a family-style barbecue.
"This is our third such celebration, traditionally held at the end of the international Tour de France ride," said Johnson. "This gives us a chance to give back to the community and our customers as well as to grow the sport of cycling."
Johnson said that he and his crew had spent the night before "smoking pork for the barbecue's pulled pork sandwiches."

Raelynn Milley, the store's USA Cycling certified coach, representing womencyclist.com, teaches beginners how to ride safely. She also assisted in organizing and leading the day's rides. "I am in charge of the beginner rides and make sure no one gets left behind."
Cyclists began arriving at the shop on Kanan Rd. just before 4 p.m. for the guided tour to Malibou Lake. They represented teams, groups and individuals.

The event was a first-time experience for recreational cyclist Randy Olson. "I'm very excited about this," he said. "I completed the morning ride look forward to the 20-miler."
After a brief pep-talk by Johnson, the approximately 200 riders, occasionally stopping traffic, headed out onto Kanan, en mass, for their evening ride.
Bicycle John's offers classes and activities throughout the week and currently offer information on their Facebook page.
