Triunfo Water District Drip Irrigation System Workshop A Hit

The Triunfo Water & Sanitation District held a free community workshop on how to install and maintain a drip irrigation system.

The Triunfo Water & Sanitation District held a free community workshop October 2 at Mae Boyar Park in Oak Park on how to install and maintain a drip irrigation system. The workshop was led by Kathleen Doran, a member of the Master Gardeners of Ventura County. Doran led the group through the basics of drip irrigation, including the various components available to construct a system easily and cost-effectively.

Doran noted the various factors that come into play when designing a drip irrigation system, including soil types, area to be covered, local weather specifics, and the type, size and watering requirements of specific plant varieties.

For the second half of the workshop, participants broke into small groups and practiced assembling a working drip irrigation system, complete with various sizes of tubing and different types of emitters.
