The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is offering a workshop on how to make your home more self-sufficient.

Be prepared for the next rolling black-out or zombie apocalypse.
Author and instructor Christopher Nyerges offers this free workshop on self-reliant living, including both the American Indian “old ways” and contemporary urban skills such as solar cooking and water purification.

- Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center, King Gillette Ranch, Calabasas, Saturday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
After the program Nyerges will be available to sign his books Self-Sufficient Home, Extreme Simplicity, Foraging California, and Guide to Wild Foods and Useful Plants--all of which are available for purchase at the Interagency Visitor Center.
Reservations appreciated, but not required.
