Whizin's Farmers Market Closes

After fewer than four months in operation, the weekly parking-lot market has shut down.

The Tuesday farmers market at Whizin's Shopping Center has shut down. The market, which operated out of the shopping center parking lot, had only been open since December.

Patch has left numerous messages with Raw Inspirations, the market coordinators of California Certified Farmers Market, for comment, but has not received a response.

According to market vendor Nancy Wadsworth, owner of , the vendors were notified on the Monday night before, without prior notice. "It was a surprise," said Wadsworth. "I received a call from [Raw Inspirations] the night before, telling us to not show up the next day." She was told that the company would try to find her another market venue.

Risa Potters, owner of , said that although she was surprised to hear of the closing, she wasn't completely shocked. "We had started out at this market with great hope, but the turnout was very poor," she said. "There were days when literally no one would show up."

The Whizin's Farmers Market opened for business on Dec. 7, 2010, and offered only certified organic products. According to Potters, approximately 20 to 25 vendors were on site at one time.

"It's very sad," said Potters. "I live in Agoura, and it was nice having this location that offered wonderful products."
