• Thieves steal bronze plaques on Alameda park benches (ktvu.com) — Thieves have pried off and stolen 26 bronze memorial plaques from benches at Alameda’s Jean Sweeney Open Space Park, likely to sell as scrap metal. City officials say they’re saddened and are working with Recreation and Parks to find alternative memorial materials that are less attractive to thieves, aiming to protect future tributes to loved ones.    

• Arnold's Place Opens, Offering Medical Support for Unhoused Patients (alamedapost.com) — A new 50-bed medical respite center called Arnold’s Place has opened in Alameda’s Crab Cove area, offering up to 90 days of recovery care for unhoused Alameda County residents. Local leaders say it will ease pressure on hospitals, support nearby Webster Street businesses, and anchor a larger Alameda Wellness Campus with a resource center and future senior housing.
