Local leaders say the recognition reflects staff dedication, and it comes as Alameda Hospital’s skilled nursing facilities also gain national honors and California ranks highly for A-rated hospitals.
3. AUSD Board Spotlights SPED Inclusion, Details Budget Assumptions (alamedapost.com) — Alameda families can expect more inclusive special education programs and important budget decisions as AUSD refines SPED inclusion efforts at Paden and Lincoln while beginning a five-part process to shape the 2026–27 budget. Trustees also backed sustainable funding for school-based health centers and honored the Alameda Education Foundation’s work for local students.
4. AUSD Celebrates Upcoming Facility Openings (alamedapost.com) — Major upgrades are coming to Alameda schools, with Kofman Auditorium’s ribbon-cutting on May 22, a brand-new Wood Middle School campus opening in August, and a rebuilt Alameda High School swim center expected by October. Funded by Measures I and B, these projects will add modern classrooms, improved performance and athletic facilities, and new playground and community amenities across the island.
5. Pleasanton City Manager Beaudin hired as Alameda's new top executive (pleasantonweekly.com) — Alameda has officially hired Pleasanton City Manager Gerry Beaudin as its new city manager, with the council unanimously approving his contract and adjusting some benefits. He’ll leave Pleasanton in early June and step into permanent leadership after months of interim management and a detailed recruitment process.
