• Giselle is Looking for Her Person, Is It You? (alamedapost.com) — If you’re ready to adopt a dog, a 2‑year‑old Pit Bull Terrier named Giselle is waiting through Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter and is already spayed and house‑trained. Described as affectionate, calm, and deeply loyal, she’s in foster care now and can be met in person by calling the shelter.

• Art and Soul: Showcasing Three Inspiring Women Artists (diablomag.com) — Two of the featured artists have close ties to Alameda, including Mildred Howard, who studied at the College of Alameda, and Squeak Carnwath, who once lived here before moving to Oakland. The story spotlights their long East Bay careers, major museum shows, and community-focused work, along with UC Berkeley professor Jill Miller’s playful, tech-driven art that often spills beyond gallery walls.

• Disappearing before our eyes: 1 photographer's passion project of capturing local newsrooms (theitem.com) — One of the local newspapers featured in photographer Ann Hermes’ project, based in Alameda has already shut down, underscoring how fragile community news outlets have become. Hermes is documenting about 100 newsrooms nationwide to spotlight disappearing local journalism and remind communities what’s at stake when these institutions vanish.
