• 4th of July Parade is Just Around the Corner (alamedapost.com) — Alameda’s massive 4th of July Parade is gearing up, celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday and the Alameda Fire Department’s 150 years of service. Residents can run the 5K, join a parade entry, sponsor, volunteer, or simply grab lawn chairs along the three-mile route to cheer neighbors, local leaders, and community groups.    

• Local, National Politicians Push for Answers on Alameda Point VA Clinic (alamedapost.com) — Alameda officials and local members of Congress are pressing the VA to explain whether the long-promised Alameda Point health clinic and columbarium for veterans has really been canceled. A House-passed funding bill would force a detailed VA report, while city leaders insist the project isn’t officially dead until the VA formally notifies the Navy and Alameda.    

• Preliminary PIT Count Results Show Decrease In Homeless Individuals In Alameda County (patch.com) — New 2026 data show homelessness has declined 13% across Alameda County, with Alameda, Hayward, Union City, and Albany all seeing reductions while some neighboring cities rose. Officials credit coordinated strategies and Measure W funding, but stress that more than 8,000 unhoused residents still face serious hardship as the county updates its Home Together plan through 2030.
