ALAMEDA, CA — Missing the warm cuddle of a furry pal or want someone to play catch with?
The East Bay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has just the pal or pals, and, they're free to adopt this Saturday.
East Bay SPCA is waiving all adoption fees for its pooches, cats and all animals on Saturday during California's Adopt-a-Pet Day.
"Now is the perfect time to meet your new best friend," officials at East Bay SPCA said.
There are currently several dogs and cats available for adoption, including Davidson, a one-year-old "marvelous shepherd with a coat of spectacular fluffs and a heart of pure gold," according to SPCA officials.
Then there's Yarrow, a four-year-old reserved cat who needs more time and patience but has the potential to come out of his shell, officials said.
East Bay SPCA is one of several shelters and nonprofits across California taking part in the event. San Francisco's Muttville, a senior dog rescue, is also waiving fees on Saturday. The nonprofit also waived all fees in May.
East Bay SPCA locations in Oakland and Dublin will take part in the event.
