Alameda Nonprofit To Host Pride Festival Saturday

Drag King storytime, face painting, crafting and more will be available at the festival.

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Free Library is hosting a Pride Festival on Saturday, featuring lots of family-friendly activities.

"Pride Festivals have been around for decades," organizers said. "... and the Alameda Free Library is thrilled to continue that tradition here in Alameda to provide a space for LGBTQIA+ joy, excitement, and community building during National Pride Month."

The festival starts at 10:30 a.m. and will run through 1 p.m. at Leydecker Park, near Bay Farm Island Library, organizers said.

It'll kick off with Drag King Storytime, presented by award-winning local drag king Jota Mercury. Face painting, tabling by local organizations and crafts will follow for the remainder of the festival, organizers said.

Bay Farm Library is located at 3221 Mecartney Rd.
