• Passenger killed in crash between dump truck and sedan in far-east Alameda County (pleasantonweekly.com) — A passenger was killed Friday afternoon in a crash between a Honda Civic and a tractor-trailer on Mountain House Road near the eastern edge of Alameda County, close to the San Joaquin County line. CHP's Dublin office is investigating and asking anyone who saw the collision or has information to call 925-828-0466 and speak with Officer Hartman or Officer Purl.
   

• California to house a 500-tonne annual output rare earth metal plant (interestingengineering.com) — A company based in Alameda is scaling up rare earth metal production, with its local facility designing and building the modular reactors that will power a major new California plant. The operation aims to cut U.S. reliance on China for key materials used in electric vehicles, robotics, and defense, potentially boosting high-tech and engineering jobs tied to Alameda's growing industrial base.
