Aliso Niguel Lacrosse Picks Up First Home Win

Aliso Niguel Men’s Lacrosse wrapped up a three game homestand with a 6-4 win over the Yorba Linda Mustangs. 

The Wolverines (2-2) jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Senior Captain Nolan Werner just 32 seconds into the game. It was a defensive battle most of the first half with some big hits from both teams. The Yorba Linda goalie kept the Mustangs in the game with seven first half saves as the Wolverines went into halftime with a 3-2 lead.

The Wolverines came out firing in the second half as Michael Traub set up Ryan Dale for an easy goal just one minute into the half.  Aliso goalie Firas Abdeen was clutch in the third quarter with five saves. The Mustangs had plenty of chances to score in the third but couldn’t get past the Wolverine defense and the clutch play of Abdeen. Nolan Werner fed Chris Carmody for a goal and the Wolverines were able to keep the ball and drain the clock throughout the fourth quarter to pick up a much-needed win.

The Wolverines will travel to Valencia High School to play El Dorado on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The undefeated Lady Wolverines lacrosse team play Mater Dei High School at Wolverine Stadium at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
