Aliso Viejo Brush Fire Behind Sports Park

A brush fire could have caused much more damage, if not for fast action by OCFA and Aliso Viejo police services.

ALISO VIEJO, CA — A fire behind a popular Aliso Viejo sports facility blackened the greenbelt according to Aliso Viejo police officers on scene.

The brush fire was reported at just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday according to reports from Aliso Viejo police Lieutenant John MacPherson. Residents and players in the park were advised to stay off trails along Alicia Parkway, according to MacPherson. There were no road closures from the event.

Orange County Fire Authority firefighters arrived to "surround and drown" the fire, extinguishing the blaze after about three hours, according to OCFA Captain Larry Kurtz.

"It took approximately three hours to put out the fire, due to the thick, dense vegetation in the area," Kurtz said.

30 firefighters worked the blaze until it was put out. No homes were threatened and no injuries were reported.
