Aliso Viejo Family Builds Universal Monsters Halloween Display Across Multiple Yards
The elaborate display features handmade props and animatronics, the Los Angeles Times reported.
ALISO VIEJO, CA — A sprawling, Monsters–themed Halloween display has taken over a cul-de-sac in Aliso Viejo, featuring hand-built props and animatronics across eight to 10 front yards, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Creator Mike Stanley said he spent 45 minutes studying the burning windmill at Universal’s Dark Universe land in Orlando to replicate its details at home, minus the fire, the LA Times reported.
“We took notes and studied the entire land and all the cool design,” Stanley told the LA Times.

The Stanley family reopened the display Oct. 10 after a two-year break. The attraction runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and until 10 p.m. on weekends through Halloween, weather permitting, according to the LA Times.
The family's work drew national attention in 2021 for a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed ship. The family does not repeat themes.

“I now try to create a showstopper every year that’s large in scale and never really seen on someone’s house before,” Stanley told the LA Times.
Visitors can enjoy free hot chocolate or make a donation to support Marines and their families at Camp Pendleton through the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group, the LA Times reported.
