The Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) would like to take this opportunity to reach out to the residents by letting the community know what AVCA is doing in Aliso Viejo.
Currently AVCA is in the process of pruning six varieties of trees that include Acacia, Alder (Alnus), California Pepper (Shinus molle), Chinese Flame (Koelreuteria bipinata), Golden Rain (Koelreuteria paniculata)and Brisbane Box (Tristania). Both Mission Landscape Companies, Inc. and O’Connell Landscape Maintenance will be pruning hundreds of these trees in preparation for the summer.
Correct pruning is an essential maintenance practice for trees that should be examined annually. The reasons to prune is to maintain the size of the tree, remove undesirable growth and to prevent damage to life and property. Depending of the type of tree AVCA trees are usually” thinned out” or “laced out”, but not top pruned. Top pruning of trees produces a branching structure that develops weak branches that someday may become a safety issue.
