City of La Habra and Waste Management of Orange County to Host Free Hazardous Waste Round Ups

Events to Make it Easy for Businesses and Residents to Recycle and Dispose of Common Hazardous Items in an Environmentally Safe Manner

WHAT: In an effort to facilitate responsible disposal and recycling, Waste Management and the City of La Habra will be hosting two separate round up events to provide City of
La Habra businesses and residents with the opportunity to more easily dispose of common hazardous business and household items in an environmentally safe manner.

In addition, each event will offer complimentary on-site document shredding inviting customers to Think Green® and help prevent identify theft just in time for the holiday season.

WHY: By properly disposing of items, businesses and residents can help keep protect the environment by keeping those items away from the landfill and water streams.

WHO:
Businesses
This by appointment only event is open to City of La Habra Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator businesses. These businesses generate no more than 220 pounds of hazardous waste in a calendar month. Proof of business required.

Businesses must make an appointment by calling Waste Management at (562) 694-3730 or (714) 558-7761.
Residents
The household hazardous waste round up is a by appointment only event open to City of La Habra Residents.

Space is limited and residents are
asked to make an appointment by calling Waste Management at (562) 694-3730 or (714) 558-7761.

Business Items Accepted:
Automotive products, batteries, computer, monitors, TVs, electronics (containing
circuit board or battery keyboards, cordless & cell, phones, printers, stereos, VCRs/DVDs, digital cameras, microwaves,
copiers, computers, etc.), flares, fluorescent light bulbs, glue, photochemicals, herbicides/pesticides, household cleaners, mercury (thermometers,
thermostats) mercury – containing lamp (sodium vapor, neon, HID, metal halide), paint, paint products, personal care products (hair dyes, aerosol sprays, perfumes, nail polish & remover),wood polishes & waxes sealants, pool & spa chemicals, fuel & propane, tires (no rims).

Limit:
Hazardous waste limited to 100 kg (220pounds).

Document shredding limited to 10 boxes per vehicle.

Items not accepted:
• Trash
• Ammunition
• Explosives
• Radioactive material
• Medicines
• Sharps Household Items Accepted:
Adhesives - Household/hobby/automotive glue, caulking, sealer, etc.
Aerosols - Those containing flammable or hazardous materials.
Art/Hobby Supplies - Adhesives, paint, cleaners, correction fluid, photography chemicals (developer, fixer, wash, cleaner).
Automotive Products - Cleaners, lubricants, solvents, fuel, gasoline, injector sprays, brake sprays, antifreeze, carburetor cleaner, metal conditioner, paint, paint remover, engine degreaser,
fuel additives, used motor oil, oil filters.
Batteries - Automotive/household.
Cleaners/Waxes - Household/automotive polish, degreaser, rug/ upholstery cleaner, etc.
Electronics - TVs, monitors, laptops, fax machines, VCRs, printers, r, linseed oil, primer, stain,
g Waste Management atResidents. ra residents only. camcorders, stereos, telephones, cell phones, and similar items.
Flammables - Automotive/household solvent, fuel, paint, lubricant,
kerosene, charcoal lighter, lighter fluid, mineral spirits.
Lubricants - Automotive/household compressor oil, cutting oil,
etc.
Other Household - Fluorescent tubes, thermostats, thermometers.
Paint - Aerosol, hobby/automotive/household latex and oil-based paint products including thinner, lacquer, linseed oil, primer, stain, varnish.
Poisons - Household/garden poison, bait, fertilizer, etc.
Tires - (No rims) (Up to 9 tires/resident)
Sharps, needles, syringes - (On event day, do not place sharps
with HHW; keep them in the car’s front passenger area next to
you, in a sharps container.)

Limit:
Up to 15 gallons or 125 lbs of waste per visit.

Document shredding limited to 10 boxes per vehicle.
