Nighwind tells the story of human rights advocate Aristizábal and the time he was tortured in Colombia in 1989. The story winds its way through him witnessing the killing of friends, and his own brother's abduction and subsequent killing by the paramilitary. This event awakened what he calls “the terrorist within.” The play chronicles his eventual attempt to channel this rage into constructive action.
His book, The Blessing Next to the Wound: A Story of Art, Activism, and Transformation, will be available to purchase following the “Nightwind” performance.
