Firefighters, Police Serve 'Blizzards' for Charity
Thursday's Blizzard proceeds benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
Firefighters and deputies served burger combos, drinks and Blizzards to Dairy Queen customers in Aliso Viejo on Thursday.
Dressed in Dairy Queen visors and aprons, men and women of the O.C. Fire Authority and Sheriff's Department took orders, served ice cream and made a few messes—all in the name of charity.
The proceeds of every Blizzard sold Thursday went directly to the Children's Miracle Network.

Store owner Marilynn Andrews said it raised $700 for the charity last year.
"I've always been involved with children's charities," she said. "I don't have any children myself, but it's where my passion lies. If we can't help children, who can we help?"

Andrews hopes to raise $1,000 this year for the charity.
Fire Division Chief Craig Kinoshita was also on the scene, taking orders from customers at the front of the store.
"This year is our first year out here," he said. "It's an excellent opportunity to participate in outreach programs and help our community."
