Honor Ride Orange County Raises Funds for Ride 2 Recovery

The third Honor Ride Orange County took place on Oct. 31. The self-paced, non-competitive cycling event was open to veterans, at no cost, and the general public. Honor Rides are a fundraiser for Ride 2 Recovery (R2R) which provides physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for injured veterans, featuring cycling as its core activity. Nearly 400 cyclists participated last Saturday morning. After the national anthem, professional road racing cyclist Peter Stetina of BMC Racing (Santa Rosa, Calif.), joined veterans and their supporters on the 73-mile ride around Irvine. UnitedHealthcare mascot, Dr. Health E. Hound, and UnitedHealthcare employees were on-hand to cheer on the participants. This is the sixth year UnitedHealthcare is serving as R2R’s title sponsor, providing financial, in-kind and volunteer support to help America’s injured veterans.
