Breakers Take Water Polo Win over Wolverines

Laguna Beach Breakers were victorious with a 13-8 win against the Aliso Niguel Wolverines.

The Laguna Beach High water polo team beat Aliso Niguel High, 13-8, at Aliso Niguel on Wednesday. A crowd of more than 100 spectators cheered on the teams during the back-and-forth struggle.

Laguna Beach coach Ethan Damato's Breakers came out strong in the first quarter leading 4-1. Aliso Niguel coach Justin Ferdinand's Wolverines bounced back in the second quarter, scoring two goals. Things began to even out in the third quarter, with each team chalking up a goal apiece.

The final quarter was intense, but in the end - with the help of six goals, three steals and two assists by Laguna Beach's Nolan McConnell - the Breakers went on to victory, 13-8.

Laguna Beach's Samer Alkateb scored three goals and made two steals for his team. Aliso Niguel's Corey Stock scored four goals and made one steal. Twelve saves were made by Laguna goaltender Erik Henrikson, while Aliso's Brett Argersinger made 11 stops.
