Laguna Niguel Child Molester Gets 24 Years

Four years after he was shot by police serving a warrant, a 49-year-old man is sentenced for molesting two children.

A child molester wounded in an officer-involved shooting pleaded guilty today in Orange County Superior Court and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Daniel Roy Smith, 49, pleaded guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious acts and two counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child, said Deputy District Attorney Cindy Nichols. The victims were 8 and 13 years old.

Smith was shot by an Anaheim officer in Laguna Niguel on May 21, 2010, as police were serving a $1 million warrant.
