New Principal Appointed to Middle School
The Capo board of trustees named Joshua Wellikson the new principal at Don Juan Avila Middle School on Monday.
The Capistrano Unified School District board of trustees appointed Joshua Wellikson the new principal of Don Juan Avila Middle School on Monday.
Wellikson will replace Chris Carter, who was recently named principal at Aliso Niguel High School.
Wellikson has been the assistant principal at DJAMS since 2007. According to a press release, Superintendent Joe Farley said Wellikson is well-known to the school community.

“He has strong and sustained relationships with students, staff and parents and a strong reputation in the community,” Farley said. “There is no question that his passion, commitment and dedication centers consistently and solely on what is best for students. His leadership will serve the school well as it continues to improve.”
Wellikson received his teaching credentials and bachelor's degree in political science from UC Davis and a master's in educational leadership from Chapman University.
