Orange County Gas Prices Rise, Ending Consecutive Streak

The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Orange County rose 1.1 cents Monday, the first time it hadn't decreased in 53 days.

In Orange County, the average price for a gallon of self-service regular gasoline rose 1.1 cents to $3.654 Monday, its first increase since May 16. A 53-day streak of decreases ended when the average price went unchanged. It then fell each of the next three days, including four-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The Orange County average price is 1.7 cents less than one week ago, 38 cents lower than one month ago and 12.4 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures obtained from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price fell 74.6 cents over the previous 57 days, dropping to its lowest amount since Jan. 1.

In Los Angeles County, a 57-day streak of decreases ended today when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in rose six-tenths of a cent to $3.698.

The average price decreased 71.5 cents during the streak that began May 17 and was the longest since a 91-day streak from Sept. 17-Dec. 16, 2008. The price had fallen to its lowest amount since Jan. 4.

Despite this week's slight increases, the average price is 2.4 cents less than one week ago, 38.3 cents lower than one month ago and 10.1 cents below what it was one year ago.
