Orange County Gasoline Prices Rise Slightly

Self-serve regular gasoline prices have risen 30 cents in the past month.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County rose four-tenths of a cent Friday to $4.10, its highest amount since June 8.

That price is three-tenths of a cent more than a week ago, 30 cents higher than one month ago and 38.4 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

“The price spike in early August means that Labor Day weekend travelers will be paying the highest gas prices ever for that holiday,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

In Los Angeles County, the average price rose a half-cent to $4.124, its highest amount since June 10. That The is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 30.5 cents higher than one month ago and 39.8 cents greater than one year ago.

“There are some forces at work that could further nudge up prices, such as crude oil trading near $100 a barrel, but at the moment, local prices are holding steady,” Spring added.
