Police Dog Take a Bite -- Literally -- out of (Alleged) Crime

The K9 bit the forearm of a burglary suspect in Laguna Hills.

An Orange County sheriff's K-9 took a bite out of the forearm of a burglary suspect who tried to hide in a yard near a Laguna Hills home he tried to robbed, a lieutenant said today.

The foiled burglary attempt occurred at 9 p.m. Saturday in the 26400 block of Chaparral Place, said sheriff's Lt. John Roche.

"The homeowner calls and says a male ran from his residence carrying a bag," Roche said. The homeowner apparently interrupted the burglary.

Deputies set up a perimeter and a helicopter located the suspect in a yard in the 26200 block of Mount Diablo Road, he said.

When the suspect failed to come out of the yard, deputies sent in the K- 9 who bit the man on the forearm, Roche said. He was then taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment before being booked.
