Senior Summit Changes Locations To Soka University

LAGUNA WOODS, CA — They were bursting at the seams last year, and now the 2019 Senior Summit has been moved to Soka University, the city announced.

Laguna Woods Councilwoman Shari Horne announced that the May 17 Senior Summit for 2019 would take place at Soka University in the city of Aliso Viejo.

In 2018, residents were "upset about the crowded parking situation," the Orange County Register reported. Also, there were "no shuttles to compensate" for the crowds and the overflow of "outsiders," the Register quoted Horne as saying.

"I find it very sad that Laguna Woods Village lost this prestigious event," Horne said of the move.

The theme has not yet been determined, as of this report. Horne did express that the city hoped "they will be able to provide buses" so that over 600 residents would not need to "head up there in their cars."
