Six Plan to Run For Three Council Seats...So Far
Three incumbents, two former planning commissioners and a mortgage broker obtain nomination papers in the first week to run for AVCC.

Six Aliso Viejo residents stopped by the City Clerk’s office last week to obtain their nomination papers and candidate’s packet to run for the Aliso Viejo City Council this November.
Each nomination paper must be signed by no less than 20 or more than 30 persons registered to vote in the city.
In Aliso Viejo three seats will be up for grabs for the Nov. 6 election. They are held by Mayor Donald A. Garcia, Mayor Pro-Tem William "Bill" Phillips and Council Member Greg Ficke. All three already have picked up their nomination papers.

The other three potential candidates so far are Mike Munzing, a mortgage broker; Greg Gantman, a former planning commissioner; and Ross Chun, also a former planning commissioner. Chun is the founder and CEO of Eco-Stride, LLC, in Aliso Viejo.
All forms required for nomination and election to municipal office are furnished by and filed with the city clerk’s office. Although it is not necessary to call ahead to schedule a time to take out your nomination papers, it is recommended that prospective candidates do so to ensure ample time to thoroughly review the filing requirements and to answer any questions.
