Soka Seeks Volunteers for Performing Arts Center Opening
Volunteer ushers and patron assistants are needed in time for the grand opening of the university's new 1,000-seat Performing Arts Center.
Soka University is looking for volunteer ushers and patron assistants in time for the grand opening of its new 1,000-seat Performing Arts Center on Sept. 17.
A "black tie optional" concert, featuring Carl St.Clair and the Pacific Symphony, with pianist Horacio Gutierrez as soloist, will officially open the center.
Volunteers are needed throughout the season for ushering and assisting patrons.

Volunteers must be:
- At least high school age, friendly and outgoing.
- Able to work three- to four-hour shifts several times a month.
- Willing to stay active as a concert hall volunteer for at least one year.
Orientation meetings will take place at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 14 at the new Performing Arts Center. Volunteers must attend one of these meetings to receive information about the season, the concert hall and hear introductions from David Palmer, the center's general manager and patron manager, Lee Davis.

Would-be volunteers should fill out the volunteer interest form online or email name, address and telephone number to volunteer@soka.edu.
