The World Champion Boston Red Sox will be remembered for their timely hitting, veteran rotation, and their attitude. But most people will remember them for their primal beards.
I will personally remember them for their constant bitching at umpires about insignificant calls. But my Orioles bias is showing.
David Ortiz and Shane Victorino shaved their beards Monday in a charity event in which proceeds will go to victims of the Boston Marathon bombings in April.

Gillette donated $100,000 to the One Fund which is assisting the families of the people killed and wounded by the attack. The two players sat in barbers chairs and had their beards shaved with Gillette razors. It is worth noting that Gillette is located in Boston.
As much as I can’t stand the mere sight of the Red Sox, I must commend these two players for doing this. As a man who is emotionally attached to his facial hair I understand how difficult it is to part ways with such hair. But I bet helping hundreds of people whose lives have drastically changed due to a senseless tragedy helps make shaving bearable.

Well done Gillette. Well done Ortiz and Victorino. Thanks for giving sports fans a positive story to read about this week.
